National Youth Leadership Council
Our world is facing issues—from social justice and peacebuilding to sustainability and environmental management—that requires our youngest citizens to develop as leaders with the passion and knowledge to make meaningful change happen.
We know that when given the opportunity to lead, youth understand their rights and obligation to act in the benefit of the public good. To that end, NYLC develops young people as leaders by engaging them as agents of change in their schools and their communities through service-learning. We build their resiliency, leadership, problem-solving, and civic knowledge and skills, and expose them to collaborative networks. Our programming supports youth to investigate community issues and take civic action in partnership with their community. From young people who are affected by issues to adult allies who work with them, we actively build shared leadership that creates space for each person to take ownership and affect meaningful change.
